Does The Vagina Clean Itself?
(By Parents, for Parents)

In this video, the SHE+ Foundation lets you know: Does the vagina REALLY clean itself? Yes!   The vagina is a self-cleaning organ - and is equipped with it’s own natural cleaning crew: Vaginal Discharge, and Lactobacilli - a good bacterium!

The Hymen
(By Teens, For Teens)

In this video, the SHE+ Foundation busts a myth!   The hymen is not some sealed wall you “pop through.” It is a thin, stretchy piece of tissue near the vaginal opening.   And guess what - Some people are born with barely any of it at all.  And, it doesn’t just “break.” It can stretch, tear a little, or honestly - not change, at all.   So, using it as “proof” of virginity? Total myth.   Everyone’s body is different. AND There is nothing wrong with that.

The Hymen
(By Parents, for Parents)

A common myth is that the hymen “breaks” the first time someone has sex. But, that’s not actually how it works.   The hymen is a thin, flexible piece of tissue near the vaginal opening. It does not SEAL anything shut - it can stretch, tear, or even stay mostly unchanged - with or without sexual activity.   Activities like sports, tampon use, or simply movement during puberty can affect the hymen. So - using it as “proof” of virginity is both scientifically inaccurate - and potentially harmful.    For parents & caregivers - this is important. Teaching accurate, shame-free info helps our kids feel safer in their bodies and more empowered to ask questions.

Gender Identity, Sexuality, and Sex (By Teens, for Teens)

In this video, the SHE+ Foundation explains the difference between sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation?  Sex is what you’re assigned at birth — usually based on body parts like genitals or chromosomes. That’s when a doctor says, ‘It’s a boy!’ or ‘It’s a girl!’”  Gender identity is how you feel and see yourself on the inside. You might identify as a boy, girl, both, neither — it’s personal, and only you get to decide that.”  Gender identity = what’s in your brain. Not your pants.  “Sexual orientation is about who you're attracted to — emotionally, romantically, physically. That could be guys, girls, both, no one — it’s all valid.”
